For Adrian and Roxana Habor, company leaders of Cromatic Tipo in Romania, the recent installation of a Komori GL-540 advance with coater is more than a new piece of equipment — it’s the culmination of a carefully planned five-year investment strategy, developed together with the company’s owner, Mr. Vasile Ormenisan.
Their journey with Cromatic Tipo began in 2003, when both joined the company as interns. By 2006, they were working full-time, each taking on complementary responsibilities. Adrian oversees offset production and relationships with major suppliers and customers, while Roxana manages the digital print centre, human resources, and marketing. Both trained as economists, learning the printing craft hands-on from Roxana’s father, Mr. Vasile Ormenisan.
“I was raised with the smell of ink,” Roxana recalls. “I’m not a technician, but I love the idea of making something from nothing — turning a client’s request into a finished product.”
Adrian’s motivation comes from the limitless possibilities of the industry: “In this job, you can dream and then you can do. Ten years ago, having a new press was just a dream. If you stay focused, you can make it happen.”
Cromatic Tipo’s history is marked by steady expansion. Founded in 1991, it introduced its first four-colour press in 2000, launched a digital print centre in 2006, moved to a larger facility in 2011, and installed an eight-colour B2 press in 2015.
In 2020, under the ownership of Mr. Vasile Ormenisan, together with Adrian and Roxana began an ambitious five-year investment programme, building a new production facility and acquiring state-of-the-art equipment. This plan concluded in 2025 with the installation of the Komori GL-540 advance with coater, alongside a new folding machine and cutting line.
“We’ve finished the programme exactly as we envisioned it,” Adrian says. “It was all about increasing productivity, staying competitive, and offering our clients more.”
“We didn’t have a coater before, and customers were excited that we could now offer high-gloss varnish and drip-off effects,” Adrian explains. “It’s opened doors to new, more complex jobs and attracted new clients.”
Paul Zamfir, Managing Director of Printman, Komori’s distributor in Romania, has closely supported Cromatic Tipo throughout this process. He adds, “Their commitment to quality and forward-thinking investments truly sets them apart in the market.”
By investing in advanced finishing capabilities, Cromatic Tipo is positioning itself to handle more intricate print jobs and meet the evolving demands of its clients, strengthening both its reputation and competitive edge.
The GL-540 advance with coater replaced a 30-year-old press in a perfectly timed operation.
“We planned the changeover months in advance,” Adrian says. “The old press came out, the Komori went in, and production started in April — just in time for our busiest season.”
Since then, the press has been running three shifts, producing 7–8 million prints in just a few months. The operators appreciate its ease of use, advanced automation, and maintenance features. Customers, meanwhile, praise the improved print quality and expanded finishing options.
The new press is fully integrated with KP-Connect, enabling real-time production monitoring and data analysis. Cromatic Tipo also uses Komori’s K-Supply consumables, PDC, KHS-AI, and KID systems to maintain consistent quality and efficiency.
“KP-Connect is a game-changer,” says Adrian. “We’re expanding it to link our cutting line and MBO folders. The whole system helps us be more productive and maintain quality across jobs.”
Beyond printing, Cromatic Tipo offers comprehensive post-press capabilities, from folding and stitching to perfect binding, die-cutting, laminating, and even semi-automatic hardcover production. This full-service approach is a key differentiator.
“We can deliver a complete package — price, quality, delivery time, and service,” Roxana says. “That’s why we have long-term clients who trust us with their most demanding projects.”
For Adrian, the decision to choose Komori was as much about service as it was about technology.
“Fifty percent of our decision was because of the support team. We’re in contact with Printman every week. They respond quickly, no matter the hour, and that makes a huge difference.”
Paul is quick to credit the team: “They took the time to understand the technology, visiting showrooms and seeing the presses in action. This wasn’t a leap of faith — it was an informed choice.”
Behind these decisions, Mr. Vasile Ormenisan’s role as owner has been to provide both vision and stability, ensuring that Cromatic Tipo investments align with long-term growth rather than short-term gain.
With the five-year investment plan complete, Cromatic Tipo is focused on stability, adaptability, and continued client satisfaction.
“The market changes fast. What works today might need to change in two years,” Adrian says. “You can’t stop — you have to keep your eyes open and make the right decisions. Strong partnerships make that easier.”
