Tsukuba
Komori Tsukuba, the ultra modern production site, is the world’s largest press manufacturing facility. In 2009 the last phase of construction was completed, adding another 27,000 square meter, resulting in a total of 60,000 square meter site integrating manufacturing, assembly, testing, research and development, demonstration and training. The manufacture of web offset and banknote presses, previously produced by Komori's Sekiyado Plant, was moved to Tsukuba where all production of large format presses is centralized. As a result, manufacturing is streamlined to further reduce lead times and production costs of the company's fastest selling presses.
Tsukuba was designed with a deep concern for the environment, especially regarding factors such as electric power, noise and noxious odors. Electric power consumption (and, thus, CO2 emissions) have been reduced by the use of natural energy systems such as solar power and small-scale wind power as well as a gas-powered air-conditioning system.
